Password Strength Checker

Quick answer

This checker estimates how hard a password is to guess from its length and the mix of letters, numbers and symbols you use.

Free to use. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us.

How it works

Strength in bits = length x log2(size of the character set used). More bits mean more guesses are needed. It cannot spot every weak pattern, so avoid names, dates and common words.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to type my real password?

The check runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. To be safe, test a similar password instead of your real one.

Does a high score mean it is safe?

Not always. A password leaked in a data breach is unsafe even if it looks complex. Use a unique password for each account.
