The MGS Foundation continues betting on youth and technology by sponsoring the ARLO robotics team

In line with its commitment to promoting innovation and new technologies, as well as the development and promotion of actions related to youth, MGS Foundation has become this year one of the main sponsors of the robotics team competition ARLO ( Advance Robotics in Logistics Operations ), from the Anna Gironella Institute in Mundet (Barcelona).

The team, made up of 7 students from 18 to 21 years of the Higher Training Cycle of Industrial Robotics of the Catalan institute, was the winner last March of the national  VEX-U competition , which automatically made them the Spanish representatives in the competition world VEX Worlds .

Louisville, Kentucky ( USA ) was the city chosen for the celebration of the competition at an international level. Thus, thanks to the sponsorship of the MGS Foundation, the team members were able to pay for part of the travel and accommodation costs during their celebration, which took place between April 25 and 28 .

The team achieved 20th place in the world competition , the best classification in our country to date. He also reached 10th position in the Skills category , a parallel competition, which makes Mundet’s team one of the best in the world.

VEX Robotics Competition

VEX Worlds is an international educational robotics competition that offers young people an opportunity to approach technology and engineering in a playful and fun way. Students, with the guidance of a mentor, must build an innovative robot that overcomes a challenge that is different each year.

The competition, which has been organized in our country since 2012 through the educaBOT Foundation , takes place in three phases: first, there are local tournaments , where each team competes for a place in the state final ; secondly, the national final is organized and, finally, the winners of this phase become representatives of their country worldwide .

Participants are divided into three different categories according to age groups : VEX IQ Challenge (8 to 14 years old), VEX High School (12 to 18 years old) and VEX U (18 to 23 years old) and teams of 4 to 8 members can participate made up of girls and boys.

In addition to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning and the skills acquired by working with educational robotics, the competition offers young people a perfect setting to meet and forge friendships with whom they share the same concerns. Thus, they learn and demonstrate their ability to solve problems , while developing personal skills and working as a team.

The ARLO competition robotics team has been participating in international VEX Robotics competitions for the past 5 years, reaping great results in each edition . The collaboration of the MGS Foundation with the team pursues the objective of continuing to support youth in their innovative projects and promoting values such as enthusiasm , teamwork , effort or the ability to excel .
